Difference Between Campervans & Motorhomes New Zealand
To those outside the self-drive holiday industry, terms describing rental vehicles, such as campervans and motorhomes can often be confusing. Before booking your chosen vehicle, it’s important to be aware that there are some subtle differences between a campervan and a motorhome hire in NZ.
While many campervans include bathrooms and kitchens, they are typically more compact than the average motorhome and often contain more basic facilities. Motorhomes in NZ are larger 2 to 6 berth vehicles, generally built on a long-wheelbase and have more sophisticated features typically found in a home, whereas campervans usually refer to a smaller 2 to 3 berth vehicle.
There is generally no divide between the cab and the living quarters in a campervan, however, there is normally a divide between the cab and the living quarters in a motorhome rental in NZ.
