During a road trip through the Southwest, one of the many stops on our list was Santa Fe, New Mexico. And after a busy day exploring this beautiful city there is no better way to rest than to stay in a funky Airbnb Tipi Tent.

Airbnb Glamping – Staying in Unique Airbnbs
Airbnb has been my go-to travel buddy for road trips where I want to experience one of a kind accommodations, that’s a fraction of the price of a hotel and still includes all the amenities. So, while I was searching Airbnb Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, the place that stood out to me the most was the Santa Fe Tipi tent. The opportunity to stay in a Tipi tent for a night sounded like something we could not pass up. So we booked it right away.

Why Tipi Camping is Unique?
The thing that made this tipi so unique and different was its outstanding accommodations and glowing reviews. When booking through Airbnb I always book places that are verified and have the best reviews. While you might be wondering if you can hack a tipi camping adventure, don’t worry, you definitely can!! Gary and Erin, who are originally are from New Jersey, have been running this charming Santa Fe tipi for about 2 years now. They have successfully turned tipi camping into Airbnb Glamping.

Getting to the Tipi Tent
While driving there you can expect to be going down a couple of dirt roads and mountains strewn with gorgeous adobe houses. It’s about a 30-minute drive outside of the city. Once you drive up the dirt path you’ll begin to see a brightly coloured Tipi top over the horizon and that’s when the reality really sets in of how amazing this place is. Nestled comfortably in the hills, the Tipi stands tall and proud with its bright red, blue and yellow hues.
The Airbnb Tipi Facilities
Checking In to the Tipi Tent
When we first arrived Gary instantly greeted us and gave a great tour of the setup. They have everything you could imagine to make your stay as comfortable and homey as possible.
Bathroom & Cooking when Tipi Camping
The shower and bathroom facilities are a couple of feet from the tipi and well stocked with towels and a bunch of amenities. The facilities were extremely clean and the water for the shower was the perfect temperature. There’s a great fire pit with all the firewood and lighter fluid you’ll need. Want to do a little cooking? They even have a gas burner ready for you to make a cup of coffee or cook a nice meal. There’s an outside sink with a cabinet filled with glasses, plates, and utensils. You don’t have to worry about bringing anything! They even have a cute picnic table and umbrella for your meals.
Inside the Airbnb Tipi
The charm doesn’t stop outside, as soon as you untie the entrance and step in, you are taken back at how cozy and magical the interior is. Around the room lies a very stylish couch, an extremely comfy, full-sized bed and rustic flare everywhere! There’s an ample amount of blankets and a portable heater provided to keep you more than cozy and warm through the night. We stayed at the beginning of May and at night it got down to the ’40s and we still felt very comfortable. The host provides an extensive amount of things for you such as; games, flashlights, books, and even toys if you happen to be traveling with little ones. They really have thought of everything!
Wifi & Electricity
There is wifi provided for you but keep in mind there is still no electricity. It’s a great chance to unplug if you want to but the option is up to you. I personally love unplugging for a bit but we did need our phones for navigation the next day so we brought a portable charger. Multiple solar and led lights line the path to the showers and bathroom area, as well as all over the inside of the tipi. The twinkling lights really are a nice touch of ambiance. But with the moon as a guide, you’ll be able to see everywhere just fine.
Other Elements to Note about the Airbnb Tipi Tent
Fire
Before you hit the old dusty trail make sure the fire is completely put out and food is properly stored in the coolers provided for you. I asked Gary about the wildlife in the area and he assured me that there has yet to be a problem for anyone. But its best to always be safe than sorry.

Wildlife
During our time there the only wildlife that bothered us was a small field mouse poking around the room. My boyfriend and I both slept very comfortably through the night, Gary and Erin’s house is also in walking distance if you happen to need anything.
So, what is the Price of the Airbnb Glamping Experience?
In conclusion, Gary and Erin have done such an amazing job making the experience fun and memorable while giving you all the perks of a hotel. The price for this one of a kind place was around 60 dollars and worth every penny. Before you leave, make sure to sign their guest book that’s full of different people from literally EVERYWHERE.

About Santa Fe
New Mexico is home to some of the most gorgeous views, unique Pueblo-style architecture and loads of history. Nestled beautifully in the Cristo Foothills, Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico and the fourth-largest city in the state, so there are endless things to do and see.
What to do in and around this Airbnb, Santa Fe
Once you get settled in and get a lay of the land, the choice is up to you if you want to take a hike on the large property, make some smores by a campfire or read a book in your cozy tent.
Watching the Sunset
Once the sun sets for the night all you’ll want to do is watch the sky. The views and colorus of a Santa Fe sunset are unlike anything else. Away from all the city lights, you won’t have to worry about a flashlight once the stars come out.
Food & Beer
If you arent in the mood for camp food then just take a 5-minute drive back down the road and you’ll find a great rustic brewery with delicious food and cold brews, served by some of the friendliest people we have met. Or across the street from that is a well-stocked convenience store with everything you’ll need.
Museums & Art Scene
If you happen to like museums there’s a bunch of different ones to visit. From the Georgia O’Keefe museum to Meow Wolf, the interactive and immersive art exhibit, that I highly recommend checking out if you are ever in the area, there’s something for everyone at every age.
Santa Fe is also rich in history and booming with an impressive art scene. A definite must-see for any art or history fanatic.
Final Note on Santa Fe Vacation Rentals
If we ever find ourselves going through Santa Fe, we will definitely be spending the night here again. The owners are so nice and accommodating and the place is so fun, unique and cozy. Santa Fe is such a beautiful city and definitely needs more than a day to be explored. We look forward to coming back very soon. If you find yourself ever in the area, here is a link to their page so you can stay in a Tipi too!
