Best Airbnbs in Melbourne

A trip to Australia isn’t complete without a stop off in the incredible city of Melbourne. Therefore accommodation will be needed and we recommend Airbnb. Melbourne is located in the state of Victoria, is full of diverse culture, award-winning art, sport, fashion, and tasty food, so not surprisingly it has been described as one of the world’s most liveable cities and the coffee hub of Australia.

How to get to Melbourne?

Getting to Melbourne is easy with many international and domestic flights daily and is only a quick 20 minutes taxi ride into the city centre. We always use uber for convenience and easy, however there’s also the Sky bus which departs every ten minutes and offers an express service into the city centre for $18.75 AUS one way.

Which Airbnb in Melbourne to Choose?

Melbourne offers a range of accommodations that will suit anybody’s needs from a broke backpacker looking for budget hostels to the flashpackers looking for luxury.  Instead of staying in a boring chain hotel, why not choose to rent an Airbnb, which are actually often cheaper and better value for money. Here’s a list of my favourite Airbnb accommodations in the heart of Melbourne and its surroundings.

Best Things To Do In Melbourne

I would need a whole new blog post to tell you all the amazing things to do in Melbourne, but here’s a few of my favourite that I would highly recommend for couples, solo travellers and families.

Spending 5 days in Melbourne? Check out this 5-Day Melbourne Itinerary.

Queen Victoria Market

Discover a wide range of food, arts, crafts and gifts at the famous Queen Victoria Market situated close to the city centre on Elizabeth Street. Open 7 days a week, this unique market is not to be missed. We spent hours walking around taking in all the different smells, sounds and sights. Even if you’re on a budget and don’t want to spend, it’s a perfect place to grab a coffee a people watch.

Brighton and St Kilda Beach

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, a short tram ride brings you to Brighton Beach, full of colourful bathing boxes, where you can relax, swim and top up your tan and best of all its free! Visitors can also enjoy Brighton town centre, which is full of quirky shops and cafes. Otherwise you can also head down to St Kilda. With a multitude of things to do in St Kilda you won’t be disappointed.

Eureka Sky Deck

To really appreciate the scale of Melbourne you need to visit the Eureka Sky deck situated in the heart of CBD. This impressive structure is the highest building in the southern hemisphere, so you can imagine the impressive views of Melbourne.  Breathing taking by day and night, why make use of the long opening hours until 10pm and enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the stars, it’s one of the most romantic things to do in Melbourne! Tickets start from just $21 AUD for an adult.

Phillip Island Day Trip

Now technically Phillip Island isn’t in Melbourne, but it’s a must do day trip from Melbourne when visiting the city. You can even book an organised tour or if you have your own transport make your way down to Phillip Island which takes around 1.5hrs. On route, you can stop off at Maru Koala and Animal Park to interact with both kangaroos and koalas before arriving at Phillip Island. When sunset arrives it’s time for the penguin parade, sit back on the beach and watch the little penguins waddle up the coastline to meet their young after a day of fishing in the ocean. It truly is a magical experience and not one to be missed.

Melbourne Zoo

For all you animal lovers out there Melbourne Zoo should be on your bucket list. With over 320 different animal species from Australia and around the world, there is something for everyone to enjoy and being easily accessible from the city centre via the tram and bus, it’s a winner from me!
